It's not a full pardon, and it comes years too late, but President Biden, in one of his last official acts, has granted clemency to Leonard Peltier. The remainder of his sentence will be home confinement.
This is a moment to celebrate, but it sure does seem like the least that could be done and at the last minute.

With Tik Tok offline, I am only strengthened in my resolve to stop using US based services as much as possible. My Mastodon account is based in the Netherlands, my email is through a Swiss provider, and my web hosting is in Germany. I also have multiple VPNs available to get around blocking.
The US has always claimed to be a bastion of free speech, and the authoritan right makes that claim over and over again today. It's a lie.

I myself once detransitioned. In college when I first started attending the University of Houston, I initially went to school as my female self. But my parents, who I lived with at the time, found out and made me stop. It wasn't until I was able to move out on my own that I was able to finally transition. Getting out from under my family's control was vital to becoming the happy and well adjusted person I am today.

This is a nice summary article about detransition: the phenomenon of people undergoing full or partial gender transition, and then backing out of it. Transphobes often hold up detransitioners as supposed proof that transition should be banned, but the actual numbers show that only 1-3% of people detransition, and of those who do 82% do so because of things such as lack of money or societal and familial discrimination.

UK government: if a trans person fails to disclose that they are trans and then has sex with someone, that trans person can be charged with rape. I guess I'm a rapist under UK law then.
No one has a right to know a trans persons medical history. If you are OK with my genitals as they are now, then you don't need to know what they were 30 years ago.

Florida furthers it's abuse of trans people through the prison system, forcing trans women to get buzz hair cuts, forcing them to wear men's underwear, to undergo breast exams, and to be declared delusional and in need of torturous conversion "therapy" to change their genders.
This is what they want to do to all trans people, not just the ones in prison. Prison is just an easy place to start because they know most won't object.
