This is a nice summary article about detransition: the phenomenon of people undergoing full or partial gender transition, and then backing out of it. Transphobes often hold up detransitioners as supposed proof that transition should be banned, but the actual numbers show that only 1-3% of people detransition, and of those who do 82% do so because of things such as lack of money or societal and familial discrimination.

I myself once detransitioned. In college when I first started attending the University of Houston, I initially went to school as my female self. But my parents, who I lived with at the time, found out and made me stop. It wasn't until I was able to move out on my own that I was able to finally transition. Getting out from under my family's control was vital to becoming the happy and well adjusted person I am today.

@ErisCaffee I can’t imagine my birthparent detransitioning, but then again, he started at age 58.
