The #ceasefirenow crowd seems very quiet since the actual ceasefire.

For instance, they don't seem upset that Hamas' leader Khalil al-Haya immediately appeard on AlJazeera to say October 7 was a great day and vowed to repeat it.

Maybe, just maybe, the #ceasefire now crowd wasn't speaking in good faith, or with any actual information about who Hamas is and what they want?

Or maybe they were just keeping things trending because it's nice to feel included in social media?

Surely people won’t say any gross antisemitic things today right? Or things supportive of Hamas? As three civilian hostages are released?

Surely people won’t equate Israeli civilian hostages with Israeli prisoners accused (or convicted) of murder, right?

That would certainly never happen on the Fediverse.

Penzey's Spices still going strong with the antisemitism I see.

I ditched Penzey's after Bill Penzey's Holocaust jokes in 2023. When questioned, he proceeded to say, essentially, sure it's sad Jews face so much antisemitism BUT revering the Holocaust makes people less safe, and Israel is to blame.

For everyone that thinks they're not antisemitic, just "Pro-Palestinian" or "Anti-Zionist" or one of many other terms.

Check where you're coming from, and if you actually, consciously or not, just have a problem with Jews. Or if the media or creators you watch do.

Actively work to fight against hate. Just like so many claim they do for topics like racism, LGBTQ rights, and more. Start doing the same for Jew hate.

If you are using #October7 as an excuse to make this trauma about something other than Jews:

Remember that October 7 is a traumatic piece of the experience of being #jewish.

Another pogrom meant to invoke the long history of attacks on Jews and to remind us we are not safe.

By telling Jews that they cannot defend themselves, you're again saying we are not safe.

By blaming Jews, you are saying we are not safe.

Having Black friends doesn’t mean someone isn’t racist.
