Watched Alex Garland's #Devs.

Beautiful cinematography, slow & moody, amazing acting, actual philosophical depth, great build up, and then, the whole show implodes in the incredibly stupid last 15 min. I've never quite seen such a contrast within one and the same show.

[#]Stargate is an obvious criminal scam at a pretty unprecedented scale.

Worst case: it succeeds, leading to an utterly dystopian surveillance society, massive (possibly irreversible) societal breakdown, and inhumane autonomous warfare.

Best case (more likely): it fails to achieve its delusional technological aims, but even if not fully financed, serves as a massive siphon of money into tech-fascists' pockets.

Neither outcome seems particularly desirable for 99.9% of humanity, if you ask me...
