It's a day for deviled eggs.
This of course means it's a day ending in 'y', but I don't care.

So, a military aircraft collided with a commercial jet earlier today and managed to land in the Potomac.
With a previous order, the Trump administration issued a freeze in funds for multitudinous agencies, amongst which are air traffic controllers for the FAA & FCC.
I will not conflate causation with correlation, but I will always remember that the latter looks towards the former, whispering insidiously and gesturing in a most suggestive manner.

Hey folks...
Please remember that everyone has their own means of coping. With tragedy, with the gradual hate the world throws at us, with ennui and despair, with ... everything...
Some folks choose to turn inwards, mired until someone can pull them out.
Some folks choose to laugh, raucously and sometimes horribly, at the world and those running it.
Some folks have to go blank. Survival by burying themselves.
Some rage. Some rage hard, and even burn themselves out in hopes of inspiring that anger in others.
Please, don't dismiss the ways in which others deal with this hateful, spite-filled world into which we've all been forced.
Find a way which works for you. But nobody else need cleave to your own preferences. Isn't that why we're fighting, after all?

I have decided that the steps the Trump Fascists are taking constitute a form of constructive dismissal.
This is of course a neat and tidy little phrase. It hardly covers the myriad ways in which they are in a very real sense murdering children.
But it is, in another way, clear. They want us to give up on life.
Stay strong, please. Eventually they're going to go away, one way or another -- but with all hope, we'll still be here.

The firing of Jennifer Abruzzo and Gwynne Wilcox marks this as a particularly dark day for the National Labor Relations Board, a group which has for an extremely long time (1935!) sought to provide a medium between US laborers and the exploitative capitalists in their towers. Their dismissal is clearly motivated by a number of factors, and in the case of Abruzzo, one might be tempted to assume racism is the chief factor.
As indeed it is! There's no question at all that she was fired at least in part for being a Black woman. Wilcox, in turn, was probably fired just for being a Democrat -- and of course for being a woman.
Beyond that, though, Abruzzo's unique perspective in the NLRB has led to a great many cases which would otherwise have been ignored -- most of which the plutocrats and kakistocrats loathe for being brought to light. Her career has been sublime, taking on the toughest comers like Amazon and Microsoft, but all that as as nought with an administration which would much prefer that the NLRB be explosively dismantled.
Abruzzo has opted to fight, and I hope that she gets one hell of a judgement for her case.

This NYMag article is a frightening biopic of the younger generation who've voted for Trump -- mind, I use 'younger' as a generality, in that I'm 38 now and these are largely in their mid-20s and 30s. I do, however, take exception to the notion that these people are somehow 'a new type of conservative'.
https://archive.ph/ul3ff
These people aren't new. Every single generation in the past has had the brownshirt youth, the assholes who discarded, or didn't have, any scrap of morality which might've put a cap on their actions. These are the same sorts of people who would torture and pistol-whip a gay kid to death, who'd drag one through a field tied to the back of their Jeep. Who'd gaslight a trans girl into thinking they were her friends and then stab her over and over for fun. These are the people who happily lynched their erstwhile peers for having a hint of melanin.
What we are seeing is that they're reaching out and making waves in a fashion which hasn't been viable before due to the ubiquity of social media -- your TikTok, etc.
That makes their message digestible. 'Hip', if I were to use a much older slang term. They have and farm more engagement, because that's a metric drilled in with every aspect of today's social milieu.
And being of a certain social standing has inured them to any potential consequences of their actions, not helped along by the fact that for the most part, there aren't any. Nobody's going to deplatform Raichik or Gaines.
They're the same assholes, they just get more attention. Which is a danger in and of itself, of course.

Honest question, anyone really surprised that MElon cheats at every single video game? His fan obsession, Mr. Trump, shaves so many strokes off his scorecard that I'm surprised the green's not denuded by the end of any given hole.

Seeing people panicking over nVidia's stock dropping like a stone at the news about an open-source LLM comparable to ChatGPT but without a country's worth of electricity needed, and I'm just shaking my head.
How is it even slightly possible that in this day and age, with THIS many crashes in the last twenty-plus years, that people still can't recognize a bubble when they see it? How? All of this, the billions of dollars wasted on nothing, had every hallmark of a bubble if not an outright pyramid scheme scam. It was always going to pop like a helium balloon at a porcupine's birthday party. If it wasn't this, it'd have been the perfume wearing off the stinkweed, something I expected to happen quite a while ago anyway.

I keep ordering subs with extra banana peppers, and there are never enough.
Look, all I want is a sandwich with one slice of turkey, one slice of ham, mustard, provolone and ten thousand peppers. I don't think that's too much to ask.
