After years of my spouse knitting stuff for our nieces and having everyone adore her skills, I finally found a project that will highlight some of my skills. It’s a little (about 3 inches across) “neon” sign with their first names (really some LED filament). I built it based on this tutorial: https://blog.adafruit.com/2024/10/01/3d-print-mini-neon-signs/
With printing it took more like three hours, but still. A button battery inside the base powers it and has a little switch.

Just found out the mother of my sister-in-law’s husband (there has got to be a shorter way to say that) has a really bad cold and might not come to dinner.
She and her husband are antivax MAGAs, so I’m figuring there’s a 112% chance she has COVID.

One of the nice things about living where we do now is that it’s a 3 hour drive to where my spouse’s mom, sister, and our nieces live. So we could get up this morning, drive with very little traffic, and get here by 11am to share Thanksgiving with family.

OK, so I obviously changed my mind about stepping back from my social media presence. What I have done is muted about 30 hashtags, added another two dozen things to my filters, and turned back on the auto hiding of things with CWs. My feed might be down to Monterey Bay Aquarium pictures from @skinnylatte and posts about cats, but I think that works for me.
