If I ever create a programming language* then it will be a compiler error to not have your dependencies and import statements sorted correctly. Above a threshold the compiler will start deleting your code and force pushing to erase it from source control. People without standards should not be writing code.

I'm thinking Dioxus, Yew, Leptos or such and building a web UI. I am OK with having a different framework for the backend API at this stage, current implementation uses Axum and my web dev skills are such that I need something more than Axum provides (that I can find, at least) in this area.

Going to do some more research then just pick something and see how it goes.

I think I’m at the point where it makes sense to build a UI. The choices I am considering:

iOS app using Kotlin:

Pros

Cons

iOS app in Swift:

I’m not learning another language while already working on getting proficient with two. Not viable.

iOS app in Rust:

Nothing looks mature, requires a lot of iOS platform knowledge I don’t have. Not viable.

Rust web application with client side WASM:

Pros

Cons

A desktop app is not viable, a primary use case of this system is knowing what model railroad gear I already have when I’m in a store. I won’t be whipping out the laptop.

Incredibly dumb article saying "WASM could spy on you" which is "if there's a vulnerability that means WASM could bypass security measures and access your camera then it could bypass security measures and access your camera"...and then there's an "insert code that would do this here" comment. For fucks sake.

Thinking about different models for workflow systems because this is an entirely rational thing for me to build.

I am going to instead work on existing projects.

Many commuter train designs consider suspension an essential feature. And then there’s the X’Trapolis.

You warn someone that the lead dev role means constant meeting and they take the role then complain about being in meeting hell. No sympathy.

macOS let IntelliJ open a file in “Documents” and then popped up the “should we let that happen” dialog. YOU ALREADY DID.

So I have some...philosophical differences...with the implementation of the SDK for this workflow engine and my brain is going "Let's write a workflow engine. In Rust. Using that event sourcing framework we've built." NO. BAD BRAIN. NO BISCUIT. BAD.

Yesterday I told my manager she had one job, and then I immediately started thinking about how you’d model a Job as an employment relationship that has multiple Responsibilities, and how you’d make this model work with casual/short term employment or self-employment.

Because that’s what you should do with that.
