Exquisite.social has some awesome emoji. One of them are flans, created by the talented @pamela and used with their permission :flan_aww: :flan_hurrah:

Not to only that - I started my journey on the Fediverse with bsd.network, where they are an admin. Pretty safe to say that @pamela has set the example, which I hope to follow with Exquisite :flan_hacker:

Thank you, Pamela, for being an awesome spirit and a guiding light :flan_heart:

BlueSky has reached 30 million victims.

It is just the next big tech silo. The federated aspect of it is a lie - can't really create an instance for it. Only partial - and even that is broken beyond repair.

I am preaching to the the choir here: but please, please try to raise awareness with your beloved ones and help them make the jump to the Fediverse.

Silos will eventually enshittify. It isn't a question of if, it is a question of when.

Exquisite.social is a BSD-powered, slightly BSD-focused Mastodon instance. But even then, we do have advocates for systemd and wayland :flan_nooo:

All the love for those people though :flan_heart: It does take a certain level of courage - for which I only have respect :flan_XD:

Gotta love ZFS on BSD :flan_hacker:

The alarm went off, indicating a drive failure - which isn't that much of an issue as it most of the storage is setup with RAID-Z.

I offlined the drive from the zpool, detached the geli geom, took the drive out, swapped it out for a cold spare, threw it back in, partitioned, geli'd it and ran the zpool replace command.

Et voila. Rebuilding the zpool as we speak. Without a second of downtime.

Besides the official releases, there is a hardened fork for Android, called Molly. And for desktops, laptops, there is the Rust based, TUI powered gurk-rs.

Some lesser known forks/apps/tools:

As much as I love running a YT proxy for the greater good, it is increasingly a hit and miss. I will uphold it for now - but YT is fucking with every Piped, CloudTube, Piped etc instance.

If you have an Android phone, PipePipe does work flawlessly (largely because it is a single user thing). For iOS I am not aware of any existing apps/alternatives.

If you are or if you know content creators, please, please post to Peertube as well. YT will continue the path of enshittification, hurting everyone.

Oh and if you do need WiFi, there is this soecial firmware for ASUS devices (which have long been EOL'ed) that frees the wireless spectrum of all the headache inducing noise. Can be yours for 130 pops (BYOD) or 250 pops with the device included: https://www.jrseco.com/

It does work - the founder has a double first name and does hold the PhD status. What more could you possibly want?

Oh wow - imagine putting that tent into a room with walls that have been covered thick in this €260 EMF protective paint :flan_peek:

Yeah kid you not. And it gets so, so much worse.

At €1200, isn't this a steal? It is an anti radiation tent, keeping its user safe from the super harmful effects of 5G and thus mind control by Bill Gates.

Surely this will work :flan_XD: :flan_molotov:

You, @protonprivacy, are supporting facists that marginalize, mistreat and murder trans, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants and every minority.

This is effin unbelievable.

Because our entire stack runs with encrypted storage, manual intervention is needed. Currently, this is a mild inconvenience.

Aside from this bug, #HardenedBSD is rock solid and a true pleasure to work with.

This bug is in upstream and could, in theory, be MacGuyver'ed around by not using disk encryption and have the machine auromatically come online again.

However, not going to do that. FDE || GTFO :flan_hacker:
