Sad to hear of the passing of former Alberta NDP leader Raj Pannu. I wasn't super politically active during his time in #ABLeg, but he always struck me as a very smart, measured, and effective MLA and party leader.

[#]yegBike report: Another nope-out day for me.
Kudos to @reinierl whom I saw pushing through down 103 Street, probably heading to @coffeeoutside which I am sad to have to miss.

The calm before the slog.
Yeah, not much was cleared on the other side of this bridge, particularly not going uphill.
But I did it anyway.
My lungs have some regrets.

I joked with my therapist that this must be how my midlife crisis manifests because I hate cars and can't drive.
They wanted to unpack that a lot more than I intended.
Never make jokes with customs officials or your therapist.

A year later than I hoped, but I'm finally putting the pieces together for a bit of a Jasper Bikepacking trip later this summer!
I've actually got a few exciting outdoorsy adventures in planning for this year!

If I was on #yegCC I would be furious that this got sent back for rework, and nearly a year later handed back to me with almost none of the requested changes implemented, and even more restrictions added when the point was to have fewer.

@Dave
You may or may not have noticed that I do not have comments enabled on the posts. That's very intentional. I have very rarely found comment sections to add much value to any site, and on mine in particular, virtually none compared to the volume of spam they attract.
If people want to respond, they can do so via email or the Fedi. I know it's a bit more work in some cases, but feel the quality of the interaction will be more enriching.
And I'm all-in on the Fedi if you haven't noticed!

I'll very likely be shutting down my FB permanently soon, and even though I haven't posted anything there in ~2 years, I want to have a place where people can still keep up with my goins-ons, and generally have a landing page on the internet that I control as much as possible.
I have some longer-form posts planned for the site - some of which I've also been planning for many months now - but just getting the site into good repair was a huge hurdle that I'm proud to have done!

It's been a long time coming, but I've finally got around to dusting off my trusty old website (which I had neglected for 9 years).
I swapped in a much more simple theme that is easier to maintain and finally provides a proper responsive design for mobile.
I also added an email sign up and enabled AP/Fediverse integration - follow @Dave!
(I haven't been able to test the later yet so bear with. If you notice any weirdness, let me know!)

I like vintage/retro computing, but not super immersed in it, so there's a lot I still don't know.
For example, I had no idea this existed until now.
I might be obsessed with it now.
