So ... The #Fediverse. I get that the Fediverse is not one thing but many things that use #ActivityPub. Much as the internet is not one thing but many things that use TCP/IP.

Mastodon is still, I think, the largest fraction of the Fediverse but as a Mastodon user, what powers does ActivityPub grant me? Do I magically have a "free account" on a Pixelfed instance? (yes, pretty much everything in the Fediverse is free, but you know what I mean). Does that other service "know" me?

At least they figured out how to do a proper error page.

Tried to log into #Zuckbook after a number of years.

Apparently, I set up #2FA, likely with Duo. My previous employer was using Duo. Emphasis on "previous".

I went through their account recovery deal (a couple times because the interface is Not Good) and eventually got emails saying. "OK, you seem to be you, use this code to log in".

At which point (when it doesn't fail), it says "type in your 2FA code".

Lol.

Any ideas?

Yikes. Been mostly watching KABC-7 out of LA on the tube of youse. Chyron just said that the #EatonFire (both Denas, Alta and Pasa) is now the "2nd most destructive" in Cal history. They had been saying the #PalisadesFire (Malibu-ish) was the "3rd".

Suspect score-keeping aside, wow.

Would be nice, though, if they said "x most destructive" in which dimension - area, duration, structures detroyed, deaths? If $$$ value, they better account for inflation ...

I once worked at NSSL, which denizens thereof pronounce "nessle". Now there is a CSSL but will it be "kessle" or "sessle"?

Regardless, good stuff.

I don't need to see posts I boosted in my timeline. I saw them. I boosted them. I don't need to see them again.

Browser-based, not an app.

Help, John #Mastodon.

[#]YouTube users - is it just me, or are you all seeing #unskippable 2-3 minute ads now? Start for me in the last 24-48 hours.

If you reload the page -- because no "skip ad" button -- you sometimes get to continue on but more often than not, you are put back to the start of the video. A 3-minute ad in a 9-minute video seems ... excessive.

I am in Canada (so need to test via VPN) and I am logged in with a Google account.

My website is back up after ... uh ... an extended hiatus.

And I realized I first put one up 30 years ago.

So silly.

Fun URL. This group is trying to pick up where WB4APR/SK left off. Which is good because Bob's own documentation was voluminous but ... let's say ... not well curated. 🙂

If the #ISS is "international" why does it have a US amateur callsign? Shouldn't it be 4U1ISS or something non-FCC?

Rewatching -- for the eleventythousandth time -- SNW's Subspace Rhapsody before the P+ expires tomorrow.

Favorite scene: La'an and Una look all around when the music starts ... just like the crew of Pigs in Spaaaace would look all around when the voice-over would start.

Thanks all. Small sample but evenly split. Considering options.

SuperMorse 3.16 is not an option.

My #Morse is rusty & needs oiling. I need to get my speed back to 1) pass the Canadian Morse Qualification (5 WPM) & 2) Get on w/POTA.

If you have taken classes from either of these orgs, please let me know which & in the comments, if you would, please share your opinion of their methods.

For the record, ~30 years ago, I passed the US Element 1B (13-wpm) ... but did I mention ... ~30 years? I've done little CW since 2007 & even then not much.

Active member of that club from '06-'23. I count 24 SKs that I knew at least in passing, a couple since we fled … sorry, moved away. Many were examiners on the team I ran for the club '09-'23.

This hobby has a problem. We need to make it more palatable to the youngin's & most of us 60+ types are probably not the ones to do it. I do suspect that as more of the Cycle 19 & 20 folks join the list, things will improve.

SDRs, CODECs, DSP are probably a good thing.
