This may be a but conspiracy-ish but I'm still struggling to understand what sparked the flood of TikTok users going to #rednote ... The story of Jerry I feel might be a key (not that I think Jerry was necessarily involved). Jerry is a guy from Vancouver who many (most?) from the US (including some journalists) think is the CEO of RedNote but he isn't. My theory is someone misled those initial users for reasons unclear to me in order to spark this movement and those people framed Jerry as the CEO to show the platform in a very different light than reality offers.

Regardless, I don't think those signing up for the platform really understand the risks associated with using the app.

All this talk about bottom line and operating losses with only a very slight mention of patient care....

If they focused on patient care rather then how they can get every last cent out of their patients my mom would have got what was best for her rather then what was best for their bottom line. Even when things went wrong they would have transferred her to the appropriate hospital right away rather than first moving her to another hospital in their own chain.

They helped their bottom line.... I lost my mom. I guess that's just business?

I am appreciative of what @loops is trying to do but it's not ready... At all. It ran fairly well a month ago but it's so incredibly buggy now that it's unusable and without easy ways to get back to where you were when things freak out I find myself scrolling for 3+ mins to get back to the video I was trying to comment on - only for it to happen again.

The content is also going to become a serious issue soon as well. I've already run across things I don't care to see but there is no way to control anything. As far as I can tell following people does nothing.

All in all I feel like the app is being over promised for the position that it is currently at.

A year ago today I spent my last Christmas with my whole family. We didn't know that it was going to be our mom's last Christmas or that my dad would be going into a nursing home 2 months later. I don't remember a lot about it but I want it back. I will remember this Christmas - the first one without her. The first one where my dad can't stay the whole day. The first one where we figure out exactly how our family works now. I am thankful for what I do have and that I have the ability to sign my dad out of the home and the ability to move him from the car to the wheelchair, etc. I know mom would be happy about all of this as well and want us to move on. We are all doing our best.

There are many others out there who are spending their first holiday without a parent, spouse, sibling, or child today. To them I want to say I'm with you and I feel your pain. To everyone else, be there for them. They are also trying to be happy even though they hurt like hell.

Cracker Barrel says they didn't refuse service but they went ahead and fired 3 people? I would say there are discrepancies. I'm glad to see this incident doesn't seem to be doing away and I hope Cracker Barrel is truly held accountable.

This is frightening. The level of tracking by Google is going to be expanded drastically beyond just Google's users. I have already had multiple links send to me from multiple people (many using iPhone) that had absolutely no idea they were pasting a search.app URL. While the article mentions that they are safe URLs it neglects to address the privacy concerns.

I know this is a loaded subject, the actions aren't going to change a lot, and there are valid arguments to each position but this is a huge deal. Those of us in the US need to carefully consider how we look at civilians in drastic times because, well, gestures at the entire US political system. It may not be long before we are the civilians looking for help from international governments.
