This may be a but conspiracy-ish but I'm still struggling to understand what sparked the flood of TikTok users going to #rednote ... The story of Jerry I feel might be a key (not that I think Jerry was necessarily involved). Jerry is a guy from Vancouver who many (most?) from the US (including some journalists) think is the CEO of RedNote but he isn't. My theory is someone misled those initial users for reasons unclear to me in order to spark this movement and those people framed Jerry as the CEO to show the platform in a very different light than reality offers.
Regardless, I don't think those signing up for the platform really understand the risks associated with using the app.
