The old chatroom and Twitter phrase #WATB (for "whiny-ass titty-baby") doesn't get nearly enough play these days. It perfectly describes all these fashy victim-mentality dudebro incel techtypes, it doesn't insult women or homosexuals or gentle souls or cats the way most of its synonyms do, and I hereby take my oath to use it at least once a day until I forget. https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/whiny-ass_titty_baby

Okay, friends, I could use a little AITA advice.
My understanding of CWs is that they're meant to protect people from specific triggers like SA, DV, etc., and I strongly respect that. OTOH, it seems silly to me to CW universal realities of life like death, illness, disasters, etc. E.g., some individuals may have been traumatized by fire, but discussions of the L.A. wildfires are still just news, not CW-worthy.
To me, Musk and Trump and Putin and fascism are unpleasant but general facts of life that are scary but not the sort of trauma that warrants a CW. In this convo; I even believe they're so important that barriers to communicating about them (CWs, paywalls) are harmful. However, a couple people have disagreed strongly (re: a post 100+ others have reposted and faved). I'd like to learn. AITA? Thanks! https://queer.party/@briellebouquet/113864482504334683

You DID see Elon Musk giving a Nazi salute – twice.
You did NOT see that woman missing her period, or that person stealing food.
These are your assignment for the next four years. If you don't understand this, feel free to reach out and I will explain it more clearly.

Hey I don't know who needs to hear this but just FYI cutting the tire on a federal immigration enforcement vehicle means causing several hundred dollars worth of property damage which could result in jail time but cutting the valve stem disables it just as effectively while only costing a couple dollars, and therefore is more likely to be charged as a violation like a parking ticket.

It's okay to protect yourself. Survival itself is an act of resistance.
Every trans person alive four years from today will be a victory for us and a failure for them.
Every queer person alive four years from today will be a victory.
Every Black person alive four years from today will be a victory.
Every immigrant alive four years from today will be a victory.
Every liberal person and spiritual person and freethinking person and socialist person and differently-abled person and kind person alive four years from today will be a victory.
It's okay to take care of yourself. Survival itself is an act of #resistance.

The climber Mark Twight tells a story about his friend who was benighted on an Alpine cliff in winter with his climbing partner. Basically, they had a 6-inch ledge to sit on, roped in, while a storm raged around them. No tent, no sleeping bag, no stove. The other guy asked, "what do we do now?" And Twight's friend answered, "now we suffer."
Which sounds like a horrible and demoralizing story, but it actually isn't. The two climbers survived until morning, got themselves moving again, summited, and made it over the mountain to the smooth path down to warmth and food and friendship and safety.
It's easy to catastrophize and say, "everything is over!," when actually, no, it's just that sometimes we have to suffer through a dark night before it's morning again. It really is helpful to understand that this is just suffering, and that it will end, and especially that it's okay to stop climbing for a while and just protect yourself and your partner and huddle up and endure the suffering without expecting anything more of yourself, and then it will be morning and you will go on and things will become better.

Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies, tell me, where is sanity?
Tax the rich, feed the poor
'Til there are no rich no more
Population keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding, still more feeding, economy
Life is funny, skies are sunny
Bees make honey, who needs money? No, not poor me
World pollution, there's no solution
Institution, electrocution
Just black and white, rich or poor
Them and us, stop the war
I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

Meteorites are hitting walkways and being captured on camera and spaceships are blowing up and endangering nearby aircraft and yet no billionaires have been killed by these events, which makes me think maybe we actually need more billionaires just so they're thicker on the ground.

Hey, people more knowledgeable than me: are there any apps that combine multiple #Fedi functions, like having #Pixelfed and #Mastodon and #Peertube in one place? Also, does each one require a separate server instance? Thanks!

Tech help request: I'd like to be able to scan/convert a handwritten document into a text document – and do so on my desktop (not in the cloud/online, for client privacy reasons). It seems like this should be doable using the OCR in Acrobat Pro XI (which I own), but I'm not seeing it. Ideas? (Windows 10)
