Women are likely to be targeted for criminal charges or worse, over the course of this administration in the US due to abortion.

Despite arbitrary statistics like unemployment, or jobs growth, an ever increasing number of Americans are struggling to pay their bills let alone afford food at the grocery store.

So the imperative is don't be a snitch about people surviving, but to keep your eyes on open Nazis when they tell you they're going to do something.

Someone stealing food is likely to be disadvantaged and hungry and trying to survive; instead of criminalizing them, either pay for their food or mind your own business. A pregnant person may need an abortion that's illegal in her state, so don't publicize it unless she does. But when you see Nazis naziing? Call it out.

the way things sometimes happen, a woman might actually miscarry a wanted pregnancy and then get prosecuted for miscarrying. A sad and terrible situation can get a lot worse if you then involve the police or other authorities. That is another reason to keep that kind of information to yourself.

@karlauerbach Right-wingers have been making a lot of stupid hype about "shoplifting gangs" recently.

As you know, excessive hype can be infectious, and sometimes, when you're minding your own business, perhaps shopping while tired, you might hallucinate a poor, starving person, suffering from right-wing policies on #PovertyEnforcement, seeming like they're stealing some food from a shop. Brains are imperfect that way.

So now that you know how to reality-test such apparitions, you can confidently dismiss them as mistaken hallucinations, and refrain from contributing to further demonisation of any poor person that might otherwise ensue.

it's common fediverse/mastodon etiquette, (and stuff anyone should do on every public online place anyway) such as adding Alt Text to any media you post.

@yellow Ah, now I understand. I respectfully disagree, however. The Holocaust Museum was created by Jewish people to REMIND people that fascism is not over. The world is confronting the greatest threat since the 1930s; it's vital that people be kept aware and be given strategies to combat it.

@bri_seven I do understand that! What I'm struggling to understand is how far that goes. Someone somewhere has been traumatized by, I dunno, applesauce, but no one CWs applesauce, right? Or more seriously, people have been traumatized by fire, but I didn't see CWs on posts about the recent wildfires. SA or DV? I get it! #USpol? Understood! But should we CW all mentions of bad public figures themselves? Or maybe just hashtag so people can set their own filters? Again: I'm really asking.
