Was a bit of work, but managed to run Marble Game Physics on a separate thread now. Jolt plugin never supported that, but the builtin version now does.
Was fairly straightforward, but in some cases, the errors gave me almost nothing to work with.
The more you know: the shape of PhysicsShapeQueryParameters3D should be initialized long before _physics_process tries to use it or jolt will poop itself.

JFC, I had no idea the new UID system of Godot would be such a polarizing feature.
Having fought the consequences of the lack of such a system (one just revealed by upgrading to 4.4 with the new UID system) makes me not even take these discussions seriously. I'm glad it's there. And so should you.

When I switched back to #Linux, one of my biggest fears was that if I wanted to have a good/easy time running Windows versions of games, I essentially had to use Steam.
And yes, there were people who said that. Actually I saw someone today doing so.

I just read a German IT article about how "8GB of VRam isn't enough for most games anymore".
Excuse me, but statistically, "most games" are Indies with VRam usages you can count in Megabytes.
Not everything is a billion dollar AAA crapfest with gigatextures you may need an extra drive for.

I owned an eBook reader over 10 years ago. Cost around 75 EUR and lasted me quite some time before it broke down.
So I thought that things had gotten a lot better and cheaper by now so I could buy a simple reader without much fuss for like 20, 30 bucks. And... no. Absolutely not. From what I read, everything below 150 bucks is worthless. wtf

It's still kinda odd that I happened to stumble on #KMFDM - which would become my favorite band - via the promo trailer on a Ghost Of The Shell DVD.

Not meant to be overly negative. It's just tradition at this point that upgrading from one Nvidia GPU generation to the next is rarely worth it. Ever since the GTX cards I always skipped a gen or two before investing again.

Checked out the overview of the new Nvidia GPUs and as expected no reason to upgrade from the 4080. There's nothing with similar specs that saves significant on TDP or gives a performance/VRAM increase for the same TDP. The 6000 series will probably be interesting again.
