@memoriesin8bit
I bought an xp pen tablet, and when i got fedora 40 their driver made my system crash.
I asked them and they told me "They don't update it very often, because Linux support is mostly for marketing"
Swear by my name

@YoSoyFreeman @memoriesin8bit wtf...literally the only reason i went with them over the (admittedly more expensive) wacom was that they specifically called out linux support for multiple distros.
How did it make fedora crash though, the "driver" for mine is just a userspace daemon that seems to literally just be mapping a device for the pen.

It was one of their in web customer support chats with me. I just checked and that' is gone and now the drivers do not have a linux version attached to it.
https://www.xp-pen.es/download/deco-lw.html
However, you can see that their last update was in 2023
Mine now kind of works. In some distros/versions works nice, in others don't. I guess they removed the versioning because it looked bad that the last driver was named "Fedora 39 (or 36, cant remember)"
So yeah, mix feelings.

And yeah, i got mine too because the promotion of first class support for linux. It's a good tablet, i like it, but yeah, they seem to be more focus on android / windows

@YoSoyFreeman @memoriesin8bit whoa, that's VERY different from mine, the "drivers" are getting updated regularly in step with the windows drivers. (I mean, it's not even a driver, it's a tarball that installs a udev rule and a .application file to auto-launch the daemon when you log in). It worked perfectly for me first try without issue on gentoo (i set up an ebuild to manage the files instead of their installer), it's a gen2 pro 16.

@YoSoyFreeman @memoriesin8bit maybe they went away from having an actual driver like wacom to the userspace daemon they use now at some point?

@raptor85 @memoriesin8bit I don't really know, to be honest, that's out of my knowledge. In any case the LW was kind of new when i got it, is not old, and they still sell them new. So very different experience indeed! Weird such a disparity
