I was in San Francisco at the time of Trump's first inauguration. It was a hell of a weekend. I remember watching him being sworn in on "Good Morning America" as I got ready for work.
I remember sitting in a bar at midday on the Saturday talking to three women teachers wearing pink beanie hats before they went on the anti-Trump demo. They were brilliant. I consoled myself the resistance was alive and kicking.
I wonder how they feel now. Here's their picture, from Saturday 21 January 2017.

Watching "Strike: An Uncivil War" on Netflix yesterday I was struck by the close strong rapport between the reunited Scottish and Welsh and English miners who in 1985 had been tried for rioting at Orgreave in a kangaroo court and acquited.
Thatcher destroyed the miners and with it not only their livelihoods but also their trust in the established order and cross-border solidarity.
How ironic that in the long run the old bag shot herself in the foot.

The Israelis have taken thousands of Palestinian hostages without due process via the "administrative detention" regime inherited from the British. Their racism is blatantly obvious in the reported cease fire deal in which 30 Palestinians equate to one Israeli - and 50 for every female IDF soldier.

These are government statistics. Starmer (like the Tories) knows full well about this gross inequity and is doing bugger all to resolve it. To top it all, he's binned the winter fuel payment for thousands of pensioners and a superconductor's being built to England to syphon off surplus renewable energy from Scotland.
