So apparently, that Heritage Foundation behind Project 2025 seems to want to organise a Constitutional Convention (see convention of states dot com), during which they can make changes to the US constitution. They need 34 states to call one. Apparently some states voted "yes" to this during better times and never recalled their vote. My own post, with the counting to ten, reminds me of what old folks learn at their physiotherapy here. They don't train to not fall, they learn how to fall and how to get back up. I think that should be our main tactic. Don't pretend things are not happening but learn to take it on board, keep a clear head, and think about ways to counter/resist/fight back.

I haven’t really posted yesterday. I was in mourning and a little in denial. And then my favourite lunch cafe turns out to be owned by someone who votes PVV (nasty right wing Dutch party) and thinks T is unfairly demonized - “he is a businessman you know!”, as if owning a business inherently makes you morally superior. Counting to ten, moving on. One day at a time. Let’s at least do one good thing for other people each day.

A while ago I got back from a day away and DHL ‘left a package with my neighbour’. A day later I discovered the DHL guy had just thrown it over a fence by the side of the house, completely ruining the contents. I filed a complaint.

Yesterday DHL delivered another package. The delivery guy cheerfully volunteered that when I’m not at home he throws it over the fence. I said, I noticed, my package was destroyed.

He said: “No worries, just file a complaint, they’ll send a new one!”

Dear colleagues. With all the goings on in the world and the rise of the ‘tech oligarchy’ it might be easy to turn cynical towards technology and IT. But if we want people freed from the influence of Meta, Amazon, Twitter and Google, our skills are in dire need to create accessible, easy to use, simple to switch to alternatives. People will need ways to connect to eachother more than ever and they need to be able to do it in a way that is not easy to manipulate. I’m counting on you!

Had a "family" construction with Apple. My dad renewed Duolingo for 66 euro's. Charged from MY creditcard. I asked for a refund from Apple. Then ended the family construction. Result; my dad gets an e-mail about the refund, I don't get my money back, neither does my dad. Apple support: unhelpful. My bank: "something went wrong, try again later". My dad: "Did Apple Pay get hacked?". Duolingo: "Here's our AI not actually answering your questions". #facepalm

En dan moet je ook nog zelf onthouden dat ze vanaf een bepaald moment lunchpauze hebben, dat ze vrijdag helemaal niet de telefoon opnemen, etc. etc.

I avoided contact with someone for two years because she asked me for a LinkedIn review and I wanted to give her such a good one.. that I never wrote one at all. And I have been feeling guilty about it ever since thinking she’d be mad. 😬 yes, I am very sensitive. (I also feel bad about that).

Anyway the lady messaged me asking how I was.. so I got away with it 🥲 now I can send her a christmas card again
