Why is it that artist sketch book format is usually Arch A aka. 9x12" yet any scanner with a bed larger than 8.5x11" is at least $1,000 USD?

A DSLR is also way above my price range. I don't really know what to do. I'm tired of my crappy iPhone pictures poorly edited in Photoshop.

Artists of Mastodon, what's your setup to quickly digitize your analog media with ok quality?

Just updated my website a little. Is anyone fluent in WordPress here? How do I make a gallery that has buttons which enable me to filter the images by tags?

I'd love people seeing my portfolio to be able to quickly sort to see what they want (editorial, fan art, digital illustration etc.)

I’m legit upset at how moderation works on Bluesky.

I cannot post art I made with any degree nudity without it being labeled as sexually suggestive…

Nudity in art does not suggest sexual behavior.

I like it better here where the CW comes at my discretion and if I judged it wrong people or moderators can comment or DM me.

Moderation on Bluesky seems very unilateral. I’m still waiting on my appeals to resolve.

I guess it’s time to create a #Bluesky account.

I love mastodon but non of my IRL friends are here. They say it’s too complicated here yet they are all software, mechanical engineers. I guess no one likes to tinker anymore and I don’t want to go around proselytizing.

For the next election we need to have a ballot measure that reduces the number of ballot measures:

If a ballot measure could have been a law passed by a governing body, then it cannot become a ballot measure.

Why are we voting on all these bond measures? Isn’t it the Mayor’s role to come up with a budget for the city? Can’t the supervisors vote on all these pension stuff? Our charter is getting bloated…

For everyone saying « please vote » I agree but add: it’s not that easy. It’s not about just going to the polling station.

See here in San Francisco, the ballot has:

25 ballot measures

4 federal offices

2 states offices

9 Local offices and boards

41 decisions to make.

This requires planning, reading news articles, candidates websites, voter guides, debating with my friends if I have the time which I wont’t.

This amount of decision making is frankly discouraging. I will vote. I know who I’ll vote for president, but I probably won’t have the patience to read and lookup smaller offices like the SF treasurer or SF school board.

So when you say « please make a plan to vote » and list things about registration, I would encourage you to also include « please plan who and what you will vote for ». Encourage people to look up sample ballots and to do research early so they don’t get discouraged in the booth and leave most of it blank.
