Some kid at this caravan park has been given their school recorder already, and brought it with them to a beach holiday.
Pray for us.

I'm visiting for a night courtesy of some expiring Qantas points.

We've had a few very big thunderclaps and close by lightning on Phillip Island, and now we've got super slow hail.
It's infrequent enough that some of the stupider birds are chasing after the hail as it bounces on the road, in case it's something more edible falling from the sky.

Everything is very two sided right now (well, the good things are. The bad things are just bad).
Hanging with my neighbour, good. Knowing that he is one of the many faces of the current housing crisis (no details here, that's his business), bad.
Growing veg, good. Knowing that it's getting harder to do with climate change, bad. Also, knowing from experience that we absolutely can't be self sufficient in the city, no matter what we grow, bad.
Spending time with friends and their kids (18 and 20 now, omg), hearing about all the young people stuff, good. Knowing that they're in for it, economically, ecologically, and socially (one is trans, the other is probably queer, but that's an educated guess on my part, he hasn't brought it up).

Unfortunately we don't have a lot of food overlap, he doesn't eat wheat (except a bit of bulgur), and we don't eat meat/eggs/dairy.
But we can continue swapping salads :)

Nothing like a morning of cultural exchange to lighten the spirit.
My Syrian neighbour made me coffee, and we drank it and ate dates while we swapped phrases, he practiced his English and I learned some words in Arabic, and then we swapped vegetables from our gardens.

Don't worry, fellow fitness enthusiasts. My back loves walking, tolerates running, swimming and dancing, and thrives in weight lifting.
Just not yoga.

I did one (1) yoga class this time last week, and I've been suffering since. Too many forward folds, too much down dog. I can't stretch my back that way and hope to avoid consequences any more.
Don't fuck around with disc injuries, even fairly old ones. I thought it was healed, but I thought wrong.
It'll come good again, I just have to do all the physio.
I'm a bit sad to lose yoga though. I used to love it. I had given it up last year after a month of daily yoga screwed up my wrists.
It's also a little funny, given how many people suggest yoga as gentle exercise to cure all ills. Lol, not for mobile hips, stretchy wrists and a bulging disc.
