Hi, everyone! :ablobcatwave:

So a lot has happened in my personal life over the past month and a bit, and so I wanted to share an update with you all, and how it will affect the future of Tabletop Club:

OK, so it looks like #Twitter is exploding (again), and a lot of the people I used to follow are going over to #BlueSky - for those that use it, is it worth making a new account over there? :blobcatthink:

I love Mastodon to bits, so I'm very hesitant to make another social media profile. Will it be possible to follow Bluesky accounts from here in the future, does anyone know? :blobcatopenmouth:

Day 1 of #GodotCon is done! The talks were super interesting, and it was really cool seeing what everyone's been up to with this wonderful engine :blobcatheart: I can't wait to get back to working on Tabletop Club and make some serious progress with the re-write :ablobcatbongo:

How's it going, Fediverse? :blobcatcool: GodotCon is only a few days away now, so before I go, I wanted to update y'all on what I've been working on with regards to the re-write of Tabletop Club, and the progress I've made towards v0.2.0:

Okay, so I don't go on social media nearly as much as I used to (I haven't looked at my Twitter feed for about a month now...), so I'm a little confused as to why the #GodotEngine social media account is imploding at the minute

Can anyone please bring me up to speed as to what happened/is happening? :blobcatgoogly:

Now that I've rewritten the lobby server for Tabletop Club and moved it to a dedicated server, this little guy can finally rest.

This is a #RaspberryPi Model B, as in version one :blobcatbolb: I actually got this as a gift back in school for being a cool-ass programmer, and it's done a lot for me, from helping me learn about sysadmin, to hosting the lobby server for my game.

If you have played multiplayer Tabletop Club before v0.1.3, it was this dude that your client was talking to :blobcat:

Why hello there! Did you know there's a new update out for Tabletop Club? Me neither! :blobcatberlineraww: ... someone should have let me know at the very least :blobcatgoogly:

It's a small one, but it has a brand new lobby server re-written from scratch in Rust, a quality-of-life change to how dice faces are given values, and it also includes Brazilian Portuguese as a playable language! 🇧🇷

The internet in general has a lot of pros and cons, but one thing I will be eternally grateful for is how much easier it makes finding resources for language learning.

The YouTube channel Easy German is amazing for this. There's so many videos over a range of topics, with interviews with the public, as well as slower-speech videos. Plus I can't get enough of Cari and Janusz :blobcatcomfreading:

Genuinely considering subbing to their Patreon.

I've slowly been getting back into German recently to prepare for my trip to Berlin for #GodotCon! One of the things that I discovered that really helped me with Norwegian was that I learn a lot from listening to music in the target language. With that in mind...

🇬🇧 Germans, I need your help! Which songs do you recommend that are sung in German?

Writing unit tests can be extremely dull at times, but man... seeing all those green OKs is incredibly satisfying :blobcathappy:

It's actual evidence that I'm at least a somewhat competent programmer... until someone comes along and tries something that I haven't thought of yet :blobcatdunno:

Congratulations to the #GodotEngine on it's 4.3 release, and with it, one of my favourite fixes to any bit of software, ever! :ablobcatbongo:

Loading resources across multiple threads has been causing infrequent, random crashes for me ever since Tabletop Club was in alpha, so I'm REALLY happy this has been fixed! :ablobcatrainbow:

How is the stability for those that are using it? Is it worth me converting my project to 4.x at this point? :blobcatopenmouth:

Although I'm back on Mint now, I liked how on Vanilla OS you could easily make containers for the most popular distros and install apps that way if you couldn't install them with Flatpaks.

Maybe I might start using something like distrobox on Mint? That way, I could organise all of my project's build environments separately and stop cluttering up the main system? :blobcatThink:

I am so predictable :blobcatgoogly: Tried a fresh install of #LinuxMint again, and lo and behold, the issues I was having were gone :blobcatglowsticks:

Think it was probably because I upgraded from 21.3, maybe something along the way didn't update properly, or something?

I did also consider trying #NixOS again, but after looking at the documentation for about five seconds, I immediately got overwhelmed again :blobcatdizzy:
