Southeast states (GA, NC, AR, SC) lost Republican women in state legislature seats. Entrenched gender roles is one reason. Another: unlike Dems, R's have "rejected any attempts at targeted support, recruitment, training and funding of women candidates."

Studies (N=3,000) find men and women withheld contributions more in uncivil groups than civil ones. But women silenced more than men only when their group was uncivil. In civil groups, women reported speaking up just as much as men.

I spoke about lookism bias against women at work with Dahlia Stroud for the Stressed But Well Dressed Podcast.
