[#]LadyDuchess and I stumbled upon an unmarked, well-maintained ~1 mile nature trail through the woods around the artificial lake adjacent to our neighborhood.

Really lovely. There's a berm, so you can't even tell you're 200ft from a busy road.

Lots of birds. Just really nice.

Kind of frustrated we didn't know about it before now! Always good to have something like that in the back pocket for when I don't have the energy/time to drive us to distant adventure locations.

The example project for django-pint-field was fun to build, but maybe the best thing I did for the package (and me) was building cheatsheets.

In the docs, you can see the full cheatsheet at https://django-pint-field.readthedocs.io/en/latest/cheatsheet.html

That documentation page combines the outputs of the cheatsheet django management command and the /cheatsheet/ endpoint of the example project, showing the many ways to use and manipulate Pint quantities in your #Django project.

Attached is the cheatsheet for using with templates.

Well, I spent over 100 hours building something nobody asked for and that wasn't particularly needed, because I couldn't get a silly idea out of my head. yeah... 😅

I think the example project for my #Django package, django-pint-field, may have achieved a record for most overproduced demo for what is really a very utilitarian package - it allows you to use Pint to convert & store quantities in your django projects.

This was super fun, but took way more time than I intended to spend 😆

Made some major progress on a project today.

Some things I've been thinking through for quite some time, and all the pieces clicked neatly into place in my head this afternoon, so I programmed.

If I weren't married to someone a bit less ND than myself, I'd be pulling an all-nighter, because this win has me super energized. Gonna try to close my eyes instead 😄

Pretty disappointing news regarding the University of Washington back home.

Student tries to make fair use of an API whose documentation suggests there is no problem doing so.

University slaps student down hard. Not once, but twice! Plus a bit of extortion for good measure. 😒

It's not nearly as interesting as I may have made it sound lol. But I'm pretty excited that my somewhat-major manual mucking around to essentially go back in time and fix really old mistakes worked on the first try, took less than an hour, and applied to staging and prod without incident. Didn't even have to pull up the db backups!

This could end up being my biggest win for all of 2025, and we're only 6 days in 😄

NBD, but I basically just performed open-heart surgery on three databases, and then gently, rhythmically squeezed their hearts until they began beating again 😌💅

(Tomorrow, I probably won't be able to format cells in Excel, or my console won't let me login, or some other ridiculous thing that knocks me back down a peg 😅)

Well, not the best start to my year...

Been sick with bronchitis since Christmas, and then this.

Something malfunctioned with the logging container and we pushed nearly a Terabyte of nonsense logs over a 4 day period to the logging service, resulting in a $625.92 bill.

Yay 🎉😖

Foolishly, I didn't have usage limits set, because "we hardly use any data".

NBD, but I am probably better at administering systems than 99.9% of my fellow Americans 🏆

(but 99.9% of Americans aren't expected to be SysAmins)

All this to say, my efforts at SysAdmining today are not going as well as I'd like. 😒

One server is running smooth and fast. The other is draaaaggggging. And they have the exact same software and near-identical configs.

It's going to turn out to be something really stupid, in't it? 🙃
