This morning I'm tidying up some old #Rstats scripts in preparation for a publication and I have to say that creating parameterized reports in RMarkdown makes me feel like a real data analysis wizard! 💫 🎩

Today I took part in the second meeting of the SIG Classroom #Linguistics at the University of Paderborn. Cycling up the massive hill to the main campus this morning was a though start to the day, but my efforts were well-invested: freewheeling pretty much all the way down to the station was a wonderful way to end this intense day! 🚴♀️⛰️

Anscheinend ist das Interview keine Satire sondern eine reine Marketing-Veranstaltung für das Buch "#WomenGPT – Mit KI den Alltag meistern" (Bezold 2024). Das Umschlagbild zeigt u.a. eine Frau mit sechs Fingern (falls sie auch einen Daumen hat, dann sieben), eine, die einen Blazer mit nichts drunter trägt (sexy!) und eine, deren Latzhose vermutlich an der Haut klebt... Kann mir ungefähr vorstellen, welche Prompt verwendet wurde, um dieses wunderschön "diverse" Gruppenbild zu generieren... #GenAI #KI

❝Bis vor anderthalb Jahren war ich gefühlt der analogste Mensch auf Erden. Dann hatte ich einen Schlüsselmoment, und ich habe zum ersten Mal #ChatGPT genutzt – zum Thema Wochenendgestaltung mit der Familie. Ich habe es ausprobiert, hatte ein klasse Ergebnis, und dann wollte ich mehr.
Mittlerweile habe ich über 30 KI-Assistenten zu unterschiedlichen Anwendungen. Das kann von WhatsApp über Mails, Protokolle, Berichte bis hin auch zur Urlaubsplanung gehen. Ich habe letztens ausprobiert: Kofferpacken. Das funktioniert wunderbar, und ich möchte das einfach nicht mehr missen.❞

Yesterday, a student "warned" me that a group of #linguistics M.A. students were nominating me for the university's teaching prize and asked whether I could check that they've not made any factual errors in their nomination letter. As much as I appreciate the excellent food and service in the first class, I am (once again, sigh) very disappointed that #Eurostar is seemingly incapable of topping up on liquid soap in its on-board toilets. I tried two toilets soon after boarding in Paris and both had run out. I always have some hand disinfectant with me, but it’s really, really gross.

This wonderful covered market is about halfway between the two stations. Couldn’t resist getting some (more) goats cheese 😇 They also serve very nice lunches and you can sit comfortably to eat on site or take away.

My personal tip for longish transfers in Paris from another train station to Gare du Nord: Take the tube to Gare de l’Est and spend time there (if the weather is not great) in the shops (la Fnac!) and cafés, or wonder in the area before walking over to Gare de Nord (just 10 minute walk).

Turns out this child is actually only 11! The father could not answer their question: what kind of jobs can you do if you choose the “lettres” specialisation (roughly: #humanities) in upper secondary school? So I jumped in the conversation. 😊

My grandparents both have Android phones (I don’t) and I am shocked by the amount of ads that they are faced with. There are ads literally everywhere, all the time. No wonder they find things confusing! Have they got malware on their phones? Or are these ads in-built? All I’ve managed to do so far is deactivate personalised ads and remove the “stories” on the screensaver.
