For some weird reason nobody working at #starbucks seems to know who Sigmunt Freud was. Whenever I order abroad I say „Sigmunt, like Sigmunt Freud” and universally I get „Simon” on my cup.

Two #aarch64 desktops! The one on the left will soon run Linux, I'm just making some more space.

It is one thing to think you know something and to know you do not actually know something because you’ve tried and learned and only then know something.

Do I know anyone running #Asahi #Fedora or #Ubuntu on an M2 Max laptop? A quick glance at specs seems to show that I don't have microphone which is kind of defeating for my daily needs. Is that accurate?

I have a rather unproductive day with some sort of food poisoning. I was contemplating getting a @frameworkcomputer to replace my older linux-friendly laptop but I'm too concerned with reliability to drop a hefty sum of money for a 7xxx series AMD chip. :-/

As I'm typing this, I was wondering if my existing computer, one not really running Linux, might be coerced to become a rather powerful 16" linux workstation instead of a nice mac that no longer has any purpose in my day job.

I'm evacuating my ancient NAS so that I can liberate the relatively new disks, so that they can go into my new NAS.

I'm using my desktop NVME as the scratch space which feels just weird. I got rid of all kinds of crufty old backups from the NAS and now I'm left with this in my home directory:

/dev/nvme1n1p1 3,8T 2,0T 1,8T 54% /home

Another day of #Deye solar inverter issues. I can work off-grid with charged batteries and somewhat sunny winter day, but connecting the inverter to the grid causes "load" and "ups" (essential load) to cancel out, causing lots of heat and noise and otherwise problematic behavior. The whole problem started on Thursday last week, and timing could not be worse with FOSDEM approaching later this week.

Support is supposed to do a remote software update before eventually physically coming over.

Now with dark mode support and somewhat nicer theme and font. I'm not a web developer though so if you have hints on how to improve this please share :)

Does anyone know of a tool that is like man or "go doc" that you can run it from the terminal and get a quick and precise answer that would look at the C functions and types in the current directory and show their type summary and any comments/documentation?

Think

go doc func

go doc type

go doc type.func

But all in the C ecosystem?

Great news! Image garden is now available in the #fedora archive, once this update is through testing. Perhaps give it a try and vote? Wink wink, nod nod.

https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2025-64d02efca5

Image garden lets you trivially create virtual machine images for testing on different operating systems. At present version 0.1.1 supports 29 x86_64 images and 28 aarch64 images.

Enjoy!

I'm a little bit confused about @fedora account system.

There is https://accounts.fedoraproject.org/user/zyga/settings/profile/ which contains GPG and SSH keys. Then there is https://pagure.io/settings#nav-ssh-tab which contains separate set of ssh keys that are not synchronized.

As a casual contributor I wonder if this is temporary (complex software being complex, integrated separate systems have overlap and duplication) or am I missing something?

I have released image-garden 0.1.1 earlier today. This version brings in a few fixes and most impressively introduces a complete CI/CD test and release pipeline.

The release artefacts are at:

https://gitlab.com/zygoon/image-garden/-/releases/v0.1.1

The run of release pipeline is at:

https://gitlab.com/zygoon/image-garden/-/pipelines/1639468419

Tests cover 29 different OS/version combinations on x86_64 with and without spread.

Happy testing!
