I had hand raised wildies before I had domestic rats, and this is so true 😂

I have a lot of unpopular opinions; but one of them is that companies that are eager to replace human staff with [half-baked technology X] should be encouraged to do so as early in the hype cycle as possible.
Like, really invest in it, as prematurely as possible. Chase that dream, you big beautiful monster.
None of this shit actually works.
Why are we protecting rich idiots who should be crashing and burning in the wreckage of their own greed?

Everyone stop looking, I’ve found the absolute worst thing made as “entertainment” this year.
It is a reincarnation/second chance romance about Bitcoin and blockchain.
It is about Bitcoin and blockchain a lot.
I’ve watched “romances” that were hour long Shien ads that were more fun.

My unpopular opinion is that we don’t value the labour of community building and grassroots political organising because by and large it’s “women’s work” that Serious Men are contemptuous of.
Slowly and patiently and repeatedly explaining things to people who are distracted or emotional.
Anticipating basic needs.
The kind of thankless mundain planning and organising nobody gives you a cookie for.
It’s the housework of politics.

If polite email small talk comes rapidly and easily to you, that’s great and I wish you well.
There are all kinds of reasons why that may not be the case for someone who is not you, and for them — with good prompting — LLMs can be assistive.
Spending half a day agonising over a minor email is not a good use of anyone’s time.

People are very aggressively sure that they know what is not assistive — straws, pre-peeled and pre-cut produce, LLMs.
Why they’re so sure they know better than people requiring the assistance alludes me, but their confidence is enviable I suppose.

Back then, an acquaintance’s unvaccinated 4 year old had whooping cough — wasn’t sleeping, coughing so much he’d stop breathing.
Like I was taking a newborn out into that, when I had the luxury not to.

We’re COVID cautious, and people act like this is radical unprecedented behaviour. It’s not.
There was a whooping cough outbreak the year my child was born, and I didn’t leave the house until she was vaccinated.
Nobody came in unvaccinated or even under the weather.
I missed a dear friend’s memorial.

I will die mad about Gordon Legal rolling over and allowing so many #robodebt victims to have their unlawful debts laundered by the Dept into “real debt” — using an unlawful process, quelle surprise.
And now they’re allowed to have another bite at the class action cherry after fucking it up the first time? Come on.

Great blog on this from Darren O’Donovan and Chris Rudge.
Chris is still sporadically active over on the BadPlace, and def worth a follow if you’re still there.

They charged me $40 to get the FOI process started, and now they want another $80.
This started back in September, when they stonewalled a basic phone request after they put new cameras up in a nearby park.

When this issue first came to light, they had to pause more than 30 prosecutions.
Imagine how many people have been sent to jail over this since the late 90s.
How do you pay that back?

$4.3 billion dollars worth of unlawful income apportionment debts.
5.3 million unlawful debts.
Going back decades — almost all of them have been paid, so they’ll all need to be audited manually.
[#]Robodebt was just business as usual, and it was the tip of what is going to be a very expensive iceberg.

Robodebt looked like wild incompetence at first glance also. It wasn't.
They're not failing at "child safety", they're succeeding at pushing through the foundations of a surveillance apparatus that should have more people deeply concerned.
