Meloni already disgusts me, but her licking Musk's boots, in order to outsource the Italian defense/aerospace industry (Leonardo is one of the top companies in Italy) is really nauseating.

TIL:: AWS RDS GUI can't render BIGINT values properly, and rounds them.

Possibly some (de-)serialization happening on top of the PostgreSQL connector.

Well, I guess it's time to actively hurt this fascist guy where it hurts most: in his money.

As an improvised chimney sweeper, this weekend I used more coat hangers than a US red state. (Sorry, it's a dark one)

Want: Python to disappear from my software stack.

It's everywhere, and it's all so half-broken.

I'm irrationally angered by OpenAPI specs shared via screenshots of UIs rendered by JS tools that read said OpenAPI spec manifests into HTML.

Just give me the JSON?

and it's stupid fast too:

Running 10s test @ http://localhost:8089/active-oci-processes
  2 threads and 10 connections
Thread Stats Avg Stdev Max +/- Stdev
    Latency 67.16us 87.37us 12.47ms 99.34%
    Req/Sec 74.56k 3.17k 82.42k 80.20%
  1497587 requests in 10.10s, 548.43MB read
Requests/sec: 148278.57
Transfer/sec: 54.30MB

The entire thing is just an exercise in minimalism, BTW: there's no final aim to it :)

Heck, I could deploy this on an ESP32 :D

It includes DNS resolution, HTTP requests, HTTP server, JSON (de-)serialization and a small in-memory (leaky) DB.

Still too much RAM usage though: uses ~3Mb of it.

Always satisfying: full docker image with zero dependencies in 3.1Mb.

No shell, no nothing.

I spent the last 6 months wrangling a mix of Terraform, Go, Kotlin, Spark, PHP, AWS and a bunch of other things.

Effectively, it all drills down to having as much data locality and sequentiality as possible: these tools make it more likely that you do it, but the direction is clear.

I can already see how we'll eventually end up doing all this stuff directly in pixel shaders.

I had forgotten about Black Lagoon (2006) - soundtrack rocks!

It can't compete with Cowboy Bebop, but it's fairly high up there.

I wonder if purity can nowadays be inferred in @phpstan, since so much has been done at performance-level for 2.x.
