Before anyone goes after the Trump administration for "you're going to have trans men with beards in the women's room!" a reminder that the goal isn't consistency or anything else. It's to make sure trans folks are unsafe no matter what. A cis-passing trans man using the men's room will be illegal, while if he uses the women's room he will be shot by someone concerned about his daughter.
The idea is that if they invoke enough terror, nobody will want to be trans.

Trans youth - I care about you. I am fighting for you. So is almost every trans adult. We were all trans youth once. And what is happening to you is awful and cruel.
But please find a way to stay alive.
In the Stonewall era, trans youth had a ton of ways of doing that. One of them was finding places to be themselves and community to be with others, and doing things that bring joy in the midst of the struggle. They were literally dancing before the cops showed up. And they danced afterwards.
