today, i attended a voice masculinization lesson online, hosted by ama rose. but it was stuff i knew already, just small dog-big dog, quotient slides, and phonation tests. quotient was one of my choices for a flounder subdomain, in fact, among larynx and other voice-related words.

what i did learn though, was how good certain executions of those exercises were, which will be somewhat useful as i continue to voice train.

after it ended, with voice still on my mind, i played everest pipkin's shell song

(yesterday i opened it and saw the content warning for voice dysphoria, but saved it for later). that was really intriguing. the text-to-speech voice trained on their voice was also really pleasant to hear, with its closed quotient and charming algorithmic intonations. the most striking part of it was reading about amazon's mechanical turk program and the experience of personally producing data that is analyzed in ways that hurts yourself and everyone else, to get through college... but that wasn't the most important takeaway.

i also aimed for some minesweeper achievements today. i haven't played it for a while until this week, with my affection for super auto pets and jstris. i solved a 1016 difficulty board in 300 seconds, and an 80x80, 999 mines board in 1197.245 seconds. in a previous 80x80 board, i accidentally flagged 1001 mines (i usually leave a good chunk of mines unflagged for speed, but i didn't win from uncovering the last cell so i had to flag them). it was humiliating to see -2 in the counter. i found one of the extras, but didn't manage to find the other mine in the 15 minutes i spent searching. after killing my run, i saw that it was in the middle, in a very inconspicuous spot. by then, i had played the board for more than 40 minutes...

between 2020 and 2021, i tried the 80x80 board multiple times, but the game wasn't optimized enough to handle the board on my computer. i was often close to winning, but the game would freeze when i got to that point. it still feels the exact same to play as back then, but the slowness doesn't result in the game freezing.

wren, the bird. when i opened today's spellbinding, i almost immediately saw it. i know someone who named themselves wren. when i was choosing my own,

warren sounded familar to something - their name. and warbler - another bird. the letter combinations of wren and warbler don't appeal to me visually, but sonically, they're great. i was going to put warren = wren + warbler in my fun facts page yesterday, but i chose not to.

i didn't search for good sd cards or checkout the reader today. "another day."
