Right, well, I've told everyone else that needs to be told, so:

I'm leaving astronomy, academia and my position on Friday. For good.

This was obviously a difficult choice for me to make. I've been unwell for a while now, which definitely influenced my decision. However, what it truly came down to is the fact that academia is not a good or healthy environment in general, and especially not for someone like me. I'm done struggling to make myself fit: I'm done burning myself out and ruining my physical health for a career I no longer want.

I'm taking at least six months off to recuperate and figure out what comes next for me.

For the first time in a long time, I'm excited about my future.
