Obscure Games 9:
Keith Courage in Alpha Zones is a platformer-adventure released for Turbo-Grafx 16 in 1988.
Remained relatively hidden in the west since it is an adaptation of Mashin Hero Wataru, which is an anime that was at least had some gravity. It is also the Japanese title for this game too.
The game offers some amazing graphics. This game is gorgeous they truly nailed the pixel art. The environment the enemies, character models all look drop-dead gorgeous.
The gameplay is quite enjoyable but can feel a bit slow for some. But still it is a decent platforming experience.
There are two sections to this game in which one you dwell on the surface to reach the underground level in which the action begins. Our protagonist henshins into some amazing suit. I cannot describe how amazing that costume it.
The feel of the combat is robust, hit boxes can be a bit wonky regardless the swordplay is quite decent.
Most of the people skipped this game more that likely since, in the west at least, it is released for Turbo Grafx-16.
These days it is easy to emulate for turbo grafx-16, so why not give this one a chance.? You won't regret it. It is a good one.
But the cover art for the western release is quite bad not going to lie.
