@noctifer Oh, I wonder! I read this on the same website though:
"The choice of first name among Catholics was not left to chance or the whim of the parents. On the contrary, the Church wanted to control the attribution of first names to ensure that children received on the day of their baptism, the first name of a saint who would guide them throughout their lives."
So many were based on Saint names, I guess? Apparently, for variation, they would change an "O" to an "AU", "S" for "Z", or to invert the first part of name with the last part to create a new one etc,
