Toot

One of my lost battles in archaeology was this cylindrical clay doll fragment from a Marksville (ca. 1-400 CE) site overlooking the Pearl River Basin in Louisiana. I argued that only one other had been found in LA. The COE contract called for determining "Significant or Not" based on one unit, even though we were looking at 11 different areas for levees. My employer, the CRM firm, weighed the political ramifications of finding nothing else of importance & decided against the site. #archaeology
