And of course the right--- especially the authoritarian right--- is all, "People, we see the social ills and are here to save you from them."

And then they invent a bunch of fake social ills and say THOSE are the ones that are the issue. They do elaborate kabuki theater of slaying their invented monsters, all while actively and gleefully bolstering (and often profiting from!) every single root cause of actual social issues.
