Underappreciated Game:
I believe Final Fantasy Mystic Quest or known as Mystic Quest Legends, an SNES release, is an underappreciated game. I do not want to say it is a hidden gem since it belongs such a popular RPG franchise.
I deeply enjoyed the combination of Legend of Zelda adventure games with the iconic turn based non-ATB combat. It creates a great synergy there.
The music, as always, is amazing.
Not going to lie the gameplay system kinda inspired me. I wish more games could have embraced such style.
Yes, of course, the plot of it is not as good as Final Fantasy 4,5,6, but I think it still made me intrigued.
Sometimes I ask myself how many of the games I have missed due to the other people’s opinion? Maybe quite a bit, who knows.
Overall what I enjoy gaming as a hobby is that I can manage to discover such experiences. Not every experience is as good as say FF4 but still, exploring hidden gems is such a joy to witness.
I also believe when we go beyond the “good games” we expand our cultural horizon too. Playing such an underappreciated game lead me to think about a lot of those things I mentioned.
That is the beauty of sharing. It is ok that you do not enjoy the game, regardless it is an experience that deserves a second chance.
At least give it a try!
