clearly brando sando has been getting an elementary education on gender politics and it’s not a bad addition to his writing by any stretch but it is quite jarring coming from the Mormon Fantasy Writer ™️
idk it just feels a little insincere to have like… a lot more (pg, fade to black) sex scenes, queer couples, and nonbinarism in the fifth book in the series and the… 20 somethingth? overall.
and you gotta wonder if he is like sincerely changing his stances from the status quo or breaking with the church or if it’s just like “don’t cancel me bro” level inclusion.
anyway i’m enjoying the book for the most part although i feel a lot less invested in the series than i used to
