Obscure Game(s) 7:

When you consider this was a Turbo Grafx/PC Engine release initially you know that it would have eventually been missed by most of the western audience.

Valkyrie No Densetsu, or in English The Legend of Valkyrie, is developed and distributed by Namco, in 1989, for Arcades. A year later its Turbo Grafx-16 version has been released which is the one that I played.

This game is quite visionary combining action platformer with the gentle hints of RPG. This makes game play smoothly without feeling too conventional while maintaining a form of familiarity. Which contributes to the immersion.

Overall graphics of the game is gorgeous. I was simply mesmerized. On top of that the platforming feels fluid to which contributes to the overall experience.

Soundscape is beautifully designed, and keeps the adventurous tone intact. I find this beautiful, when a game feels adventurous.

Combat of the game is quite well crafted. You do not feel disempowered nor overly powerful, the game captures this balance with ease.

For me all those aspects make this game a worthwhile experience. I do believe that we need more arcade-y, action, platformer, RPG hybrids. Truly we do. At least I do!

Thus, game is available on Nintendo Switch. So why not give it a chance.
