Oh. Trump isn't Hitler 2.0. Elon Musk is. Just like Hitler he was never elected, but rather given a position due to his influence, Hitler's influence being because he was the leader of the growing Nazi party and Musk's influence because he's a billionaire with a large fanbase. Hitler used that position to seize control of the government indirectly.
The DOGE thankfully doesn't seem to have as much power as the German Chancellor did, but it seems like all it would really take is a few clever moves for Musk's unofficial powers to become official, and an "unfortunate accident" to make them absolute.
