Truth is actually irrelevant. Trump may even brag about making false claims. What's important is that the US is great again. The US can bully its neighbors and trading partners. Insecure voters, may find that being on the winner's team can make them feel much better. Trump supporters therefore don't care about whether he tells the truth, or even whether he is pursuing policies that make sense. He is a bully, and he is their bully.
