This was a throwaway shot, originally done like my recent ones, with significantly choked side lighting, black background, etc. I wasn't pleased with it so I shelved it for a future redo.
But...
Something gave me the idea to invert it in post, making it high key instead. Really interesting result, considering the raw material. One weak point is that the natural reflection of the flash on the glass in the "straight" shot looks unnaturally like a dark ink stain in the inverted shot. Also there's not much of a grounding shadow, looks OK here but in another photo I tried, the subject looked like it was floating. Still not a great photo, but every one of these is a learning experience and a chance to experiment.
p.s. I did dust the table first, I swear it! 😆
