@isotopp Perhaps this is an explanation for political trends I see happening.
Todey we will see a president taking over that puts priority on loyalty to him and not to the system. Perhaps not by accident this is the most illeterate president for decades.
If the leader is illeterate he must make sure that the fate of priests and scribes is closely tied to his fate. Those who read for him are now his vassals.
The system reverts back to previous operating models as we get leaders that were as illiterate as many rulers in medieval times.
