If you work in an emergency department in the US, remember that you may be in violation of local policy, state laws, and federal laws, if you cooperate with ICE agents who are targeting your patients. If you don’t know, now is the time to ask your leadership to clarify hospital policy. For instance, we do not let police know when a patient is being discharged unless they have submitted a signed private information disclosure form. We used to not do it at all. Check your policy and laws.
