You know, that whole "I am the Lord above all" thing feels kinda obvious. If you're going to follow YHVH's statements, then obviously it's the alpha and omega, that's fine.
So that's kind of a self-reflective statement.
Worshipping graven images? We can't exactly make an image of God, so any lesser construction must be imperfect and therefore unworthy of worship. Sounds normal enough to me.
Don't speak the name? Weird, but I guess maybe It's shy. Or It doesn't want to be called out at all hours.
Sabbath day? Meh. After making the universe in six days, I'd sure as hell wanna day off.
Parental honour, not murdering, not cheating, not stealing? Sounds pretty good to me. (Though that filial obligation can fuck right off when it's not reciprocated.) And that bit about cheating isn't applied to polycules: seems pretty obvious that in the Good Book, everyone's fine with being in giant relationships.
And the rest of it about jealousy sounds pretty decent too.
Is it just me? Or does most of this sound like just a regular social contract? I'm never going to consider YHVH as the great "I Am", but much like the book of Parables, all of this just kinda reads like "Don't be a dick."
