THE Bi-Weekly K1USN Slow Speed Contest suggests sending no faster than 20 WPM. Also it encourages operators to adjust their speed to the person sending "CQ" . Me, I have no preferred speed. Most of the time I adjust my speed to the sender or when ask to QRS. My straight key sending has maxed out at about 22 WPM due to arthritis. I've got my BUG set at about 23 - 25 WPM. My paddle speeds varies depending on contests and receivers.
