ak.ari.lt is shutting down 2025-02-01

I and Zayd have decided to shut this instance down because it is a moderation hell trying to block all the bad things on fedi. The effort is not compensated by the value we feel hosting fedi brings us, thus, not wasting more time or resources on fedi, we have decided that it is better off gone. The instance is now going on closed registrations and the final and total shutdown, including data deletion, will be initiated 2025-02-01 (February 1st, 2025).
It’s been a nice year here and I’ve met cool people on here myself as well as picked up useful skills (mainly Akkoma breaking out of random), but the dislike for fedi is growing on me more and the returns are diminishing.
The main problems I’ve noticed on this platform is toxicity, a phenomenon I can only describe as echochamberitis, and paedophillia (or some other paedo-adj things like grooming). I don’t like this place and I not only feel uncomfortable here, but also unsafe. The moderation burden is too much to take and I believe I have better places to put my time to.
Thanks for cool people such as TauAs, Kęstutis, doskel, LDA, Chloe, Atom, Nune, TudbuT, meowking, Lily (the floofy one), Lukadjo, Vaclovas, Georgemoody, Froos, Micr0byte, Kali, Sophari, Katzenberger, Alyssa/T1nklas, Todepond, Deividas, Udovič Arns, Laimės Kūdikis, Jura, Mykolas, Emilis, McSlibinas, Karmalakas, Jpgalgoritmas, Vytautas Butėnas, Endali, Zaire, Red/Max, DCoder, Dav1d, and others who are making this place something at least worth to be in your own little bubble for :)
I’ll be here until February 1st, 2025 and will continue to moderate and protect this instance as I have for the past year, however, this is the last 2 weeks of its service.
