There was a “men’s movement” in the early 90’s with leaders like Michael Meade and Robert Bly. We read their books and poems. We also read Joseph Campbell about mythology and religion and watched his interviews with Bill Moyer. We learned that it was okay to feel joy and to cry, that anger could be processed in healthy ways, and to respect women and children. I still have friends from those days that I feel a deep kinship and loyalty to. All that wisdom seems to have blown in the wind and our leaders today are baby-men who don’t have a clue what a real man is. They will all be celebrating the coronation/infomercial of the ultimate baby-man as he becomes our 47th President.
