As my dad pointed out years and years ago, although Bob Uecker made a post-pros career out of calling himself a bad baseball player, the reality is that millions of people played baseball in the 1950s and 1960s, and exactly 820 were in the big leagues when Bob was there. He was in the top 1% of the top 1%. And a gentleman, to boot.
