It's kinda interesting how words like "native" or "indigenous" bring up certain perceptions in people's minds and how those perceptions are shaped by colonialism.
Like, there are/were indigenous Europeans, for example, but they're often either ignored or described as "barbarians" depending on the discussion.
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable and articulate than me could expand on the topic better.
