@Janus @semit0ne Around Y2K I helped a company define their security practice. One part was to develop a database, because they had many similar-but-not-the-same servers and other systems, they wanted to keep track of the kinds of vulnerabilities they typically faced.
I knew nothing about PERL, but bought a book and programmed all the stuff that talked to the database. It was so easy I was pretty shocked.
PERL can get complicated, but at least for this purpose, it totally lived up to its reputation.
