@chesheer The installer sucks, but for the last 30 years it had a consistent desktop and backwards compatible API. Imho the "year of the desktop" was like 2010(?), when we had KDE 3 and Gnome 2. From then it went downwards in a steep spiral, wether you're in the X or Wayland camp.
